Hey Glenn ...the best think to do is use that thing as a weight for fishing..... bye a Birky clutch as soon as you can ....they are bullet proof ....they cost a little .....I think collinns was telling me its hard to get parts for thoes DXL clutchs ....I had a Birky on the shelf for 5 years Joe and I put it on the kart put clean oil in it ....Bamm hit the gas and the tach sad 10.6 right on the money for me ......all I have done to the thing is keep the oil clean.....I love them.....good luck

Glenn parts are still available for the clutch and the DXL clutch still is a good clutch ***but you do require more maintenance than others.***The cracks are not good but check the floaters discs they are problem warped it will cause the clutch to drag before engagement and to be inconsistent. I will be in the shop here all day and late to night so call i will try to help (360)629-9527

It makes sense that the engagement would be inconsistent if the weight block is cracked. If the floaters are all discolored (blue) in the same place, or the wear pattern looks different in the same area, then I'd be really worried about the block. Remove the springs and measure the height. If there is much variation between the springs you should replace them Before spending money on a new block you need to be sure that nothing else in the clutch is warped. If you end up needing to replace a bunch of parts I'd put the money toward a jackshaft clutch. I agree with Scott that a Birkey will give years of service on a KT100. The Horstman dry clutches seem to do OK as a jackshaft clutch. Ronnie swears by them. I also had good performance with a DXL with a titanium weight block heavy springs and heavy weights, but I think the weight block was custom made. I haven’t raced a DXL clutch since the 90s. I think that the heavy weights and springs really help if you are using a really peaky oval track pipe.
