According to the UAS rules, starting in 2008 ( i believe), a single 2 stroke can be up to 255cc. Are running these rules or is the single engine limit at 210. I assume since it says we are running UAS rules and it was pointed out we are responsible to know the rules (by a member in older posts).....its 255cc. But i want clarification please.
I am just shopping for a new open and considering all options....thats all.

Could I get confirmation before I spend any money? "i Belive" doesnt cut it if i end up buying a motor and its deemed illegal. I was considering a 250mx motor, because according to the UAS cc and weight rules on their website I can run a 250 motor at 430lbs, or a 125 at a lighter weight.
I am not trying to be difficult, but i need clarification if i am going to spend the money.
Thanks Jeff

Ok...went to the rules page one more time... I followed the link to the UAS website, as posted in the rules, to read the rules. The 2009 rules are no longer posted... but the 2010 rules are.
Can someone from the CKA board with the authority to make the call.....answer what rules we will follow?
Allowing the 250 motors would allow a low cost alternitive to duals or the sudam. And in a stock form would be competitive on most tracks. But i doubt a 125 would be nearly as competitive. It would have a weight disadvantage, and hp loss due to the tranny internal drag.
I can be emailed directly at: jeffspalding@hotmail.com
Or just reply to post. Thanks Jeff

Well someone really should remove the UAS website link from the rules page, and probably quit calling it UAS rules...since they are not any longer. There is a reason the UAS makes rule updates....And this year they added to it to keep the cost down. Adding CC's to the dual reed and rotary rules to make engines stay legal when pistons are no longer available in their range of stock bores, and also allowing MX motors. Dirtbike motors do make less power then a karting specific motor per cc.....but craigslist is full of 250cc dirtbikes for under $1000. It was a great idea.....too bad we cant follow suit, and use a proven format that keeps getting better, and allowing great racing.
