| | question on kt100's « Thread Started on Jul 8, 2009, 11:19am » | |
I have a kt100 with the clutch on the right side.....to get it on the left hand side, can I just spin the head around and re-drill the pulse fitting? Or is it a different bottom end. My chassis has a left side motor mount and I find the clutch is a little in the way.
thanks for the help.......

If I understand the question correct. you want to make the motor left hand clutch driver. If so I believe you will need a left hand driver rotor as the motor will spin differently then what it does now.

The motor spins the same way no matter what side of the kart its bolted to. Call Elmer and get a ext. shaft for the left side. Thats the cheapest way. Your best bet though is to get the motor on the right. Alot less headache and then you wont need a left handed starter nut or a left handed starter.

You have probably found a solution by now, but Will is correct you need a reverse rotation rotor. Most 3rd bearing supports would not be clearanced for the chain if you turn them around. If someone makes and extension shaft it would be illegal to run in the stock class because you wouldn't be able to run the stock rotor nut, and you would need a custom third bearing support. A Jackshaft clutch should have plenty of clearance if you want to keep the forward bite of a left drive kart

Thanks for the help everyone.....I have sent the chassis out to have a mount bar added to the right side. That seems to be less of a problem.....
see you at Oakwood.....Dave
